Selecting the best video integration method to meet specific demand maximizes revenue and profit growth. While we support all integration methods, we always ensure that each publisher enjoys the best match in order to maximum value:
VAST (Video Ad Serving Template)
Introduced in 2008, VAST enables video players to communicate with ad servers to seamlessly show video ads. This is realized via a simple URL containing several video parameters that lead to an XML schema which summons the ad video file.
While VAST is the most common integration and became a standard, it’s not flexible enough to maximize performance. As it doesn’t allow for real auctions with accurate bid values, it may cause publishers to miss out on opportunities. In addition, VAST tags are hardly scalable and could cause increased latency.
Header Bidding
Header bidding (also known as Prebid) enables publishers to maximize potential revenue by running a unified auction; including all their demand partners into competition with their ad server demand so they always receive the highest bid.
This allows publishers to create a competitive bidding that includes all demand sources: from open marketplaces to direct deals.
Created via the player’s Prebid wrapper, the integration can be up and running very quickly.
oRTB (Open Real-Time Bidding)
oRTB integration is less common and usually geared toward publishers with massive volumes and technical resources, as compared to Prebid that offers a much simpler integration.
Integration is performed server side and requires dedicated oRTB infrastructure in addition to the usual ad server. Consequently, it can be quite costly and time consuming for small to mid size publishers. In comparison, Prebid video seems an excellent solution on the basis of both simplicity and performance granularity.
